It is always an honor when we are chosen to photograph a wedding day. Intimate San Francisco City Hall weddings are such a treat because we are wedding photographers that love the incredible light and posing opportunities at this venue. Our goal is to capture the most natural, intimate, and harmonic images of people in love.
Anna and Gleb were married at the SF City Hall just a few days before Christmas. Surrounded by friends, their festive ceremony took place under a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. After the ceremony, we spent time roaming the halls and stairways of the City Hall while enjoying the perfect photo settings that surrounded us.
There are so many places to go for portraits in San Francisco. Most couples love to visit landmarks such as Baker Beach, Palace of Fine Arts, Legion of Honor, or Golden Gate park. The secret to beautiful wedding portraits is to help the couple relax and really feel the moment. It’s not as easy as it sounds because friends, family, and even random bystanders love to watch and even cheer the couple on during their portraits. This inevitably takes away from the intimacy of the moments we try to create and so we often times walk directly away from everyone.
We love to guide the couple to breathe, connect with each other, feel the moment and let go of any self-conscious thoughts they may be having about photography. We know from experience that it can take some time to really become comfortable with your photographers and we coach couples to just let go and relax, first and foremost. There was even a joke back in the film days that as a portrait photographer you don’t need to load your first roll of film. This is because it takes people time to start acting natural in front of the camera. Anything we can do to break the ice and help the bride and groom relax always helps with getting great photos.
The Palace of Fine Art and Crissy Fields were the next destinations on this chilly yet sunny day and Anna even braved the cold for some barefoot beach photos.
Enjoy our favorites!
