Casual and fun photo sessions in the Bay Area and beyond

Great photography is always a collaboration between a photographer and his subject. That’s why it makes us super happy when we see our couples coming up with original ideas, bringing props, and jumping up and down at the thought of their sessions. We have a couple of gorgeous engagement sessions to share with you so relax enjoy!

The first of these sessions was for Laura and David and it was planned a looong time in advance. (They even arranged to have a friend bring his awesome old car to the shoot!) And we were happy to drive to Santa Cruz to capture all of the vintage goodness:

Not sure if Laura’s enjoying the ride or is scared to death here. I guess it doesn’t matter so long as it looks good :)

Laura and David’s Radonich Ranch wedding had even more style and is a must see if you haven’t yet! We’ll follow up with the second amazing session when it’ll be ready within the next few weeks.

An excited e-mail from a Choco Studio fan always makes our day. Carrie and her husband Matt were coming to San Francisco for a short vacation and wanted to have a very “San Francisco” session, not necessarily with the Golden Gate on the background of every photo, but something that would help them to remember our city by the bay.

For many years now, North Beach has been one of our favorite San Francisco neighborhoods for shooting. It’s so lively, colorful and inviting, and every time we visit we find new and exciting nooks and crannies to shoot at. The day of the session was the only sunny day during the last storm, so we were all happy that the timing worked out perfectly. Shooting in the rain only sounds romantic, but the thought of being all wet and cold doesn’t feel good at all.

Here are some favorites!

Carrie is a photographer and she really wanted this picture of her with the camera. She’s in the Nikon club, but we are not holding it against her :)

And that’s what Mike saw:

We LOVE working with couples who are ready to follow us anywhere! Carrie and Matt didn’t hesitate for a second when Mike and I got all excited at the sight of some dirty and dingy stairway going underground. And look at how happy they are! I’m just glad pictures don’t depict smells :)

We had so much fun hanging out with you guys, thank you for being so great! I hope you enjoyed our stroll through North Beach together :)

We first met Jamie and Chris last August when we were on the home stretch of preparing for our own wedding. Right away it felt like we really hit it off and it was great to get to know each other and learn all about their upcoming September wedding day. Jamie and Chris live in San Mateo and have been familiar with this area for a quite some time. When we needed to choose a location for their engagement session it was very easy and we really enjoyed walking all around the downtown area as well as in San Mateo Central Park.

Jamie and Chris’ wedding is going to be at the Crystal Springs Golf Course and we are excited to shoot there. If you’ve ever driven past this area on freeway 280 there is a good chance you noticed the beautiful gazebo out on the rolling hills overlooking the reservoir. Natasha and I can’t wait to capture their celebration.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Update – we just got Jamie and Chris’ reaction to the shots and wanted to share it:

I just wanted to thank you both again. The photos are amazing and we love them. I cannot wait for the wedding. Now I am just trying to figure out which ones to buy.

Take care,

Jamie
